Thank you for this.

I have not watched this documentary but I have read Sam Quinones' book DREAMLAND, and after that I lost what faith I had in Big Pharma. It's a terrific book-- for any readers interested in the subject I warmly recommend it. He's the reporter who broke the story, together with the Mexican tar heroin story.

P.S. I cannot thank you enough for all you have done to remove the mask mandates.

As much as I think government is crooked, it's even more crooked when private industry lies to a government that plays dumb, like with oxy.

This is worse than the free market snake oil days. It's snake oil with paid off government endorsement. Sick crap!

A merger of government and corporate interests is fascism.

As much as I am against state power, If we had a nationally funded non profit medical research and treatment system, of course there would be corruption, but it wouldn't be this convoluted and liability would be easily established.

You are one of my heroes. I have noticed that many if not most of those acting heroically believe in God, or are moving in the direction. I put my trust in Jesus more than 30 years ago and it has led me to a life of joy and purpose. Made a lot of crappy decisions in my life. That one was the best decision I ever made. May God continue to light your way and keep you strong and courageous!

Hari Sreenivasan interviewed actors Peter Sarsgaard and John Hoogenakker on PBS November 9, 2021. I watched "Dope Sick" sometime ago. Leslie, thank you for the work you do. Watching Dope Sick should have been mandatory before anyone got injected believing FDA's safe and effective has any substance. I wonder how many parents of Oxycontin children's deaths have watched Dope Sick and realized there is no justice.

SREENIVASAN: You know, John, I wonder — this is a spoiler alert for the audience, but when you figured out that the person at the FDA who helped write the rules for how OxyContin could be distributed went to work for Purdue Pharma afterward, what went through your mind?

HOOGENAKKER: We have to — as best as we can, we have to keep stories like this alive. Not just instances like the one you mentioned, Hari, but stories like how the opioid crisis came to be in this country. We have to demonstrate that it’s important to us and we have to push lawmakers to pass things like the Sackler Act. I looked it up this morning and it’s stuck — it’s bouncing around in subcommittees, it’s currently in the anti-trust commercial and administrative loss committee They’re just passing it around. I think it looks good, but I don’t know. Why don’t you have a look at it? No, I think it looks, but I don’t know. Why don’t you? And then, you know, another election happens. The country moves in a different direction and maybe nothing happens. And this is how it goes on and on and on. But we cannot become complacent. It’s very important that when we’re given the opportunity to vote, that we get out and make it happen.

What touches me most about this essay is your spiritual depth, and your willingness and openness to share some of that depth. Thank you for such generous sharing. It's very meaningful to me today to ready this.
